Gold and Sugilite Eagle Pendant

18k Gold Eagle Pendant with a South African Sugilite Center Stone and natural Diamond Eye. This bold and elegant pendant hangs from a 24” 18k gold braided chain. In Hopi tradition, the eagle is a messenger of prayer and protector of people. A single natural, full cut, round brilliant diamond is set in the eye, giving the piece a sense of vision and vitality.

Handcrafted circa 1990 by Hopi jeweler John Coochyumptewa, a member of the Tobacco Clan, who signs his work with a stylized tobacco leaf. Coochyumptewa used eagles frequently in his designs. He was affectionately known as “Eagle Boy”. This piece is featured on page 127 of Hopi Gold Hopi Silver by Zena Pearlstone, highlighting its significance.
